Herbert and the Lower Burdekin Forecast
Issued at 4:15 pm EST on Tuesday 19 September 2017 for the period until midnight EST Saturday 23 September 2017.

Weather Situation: An upper trough is resulting in cloud and rain areas over the northeastern tropics, with the trough and cloud clearing east into the Coral Sea early on Wednesday. The upper trough will also increase instability over the south of the state today, combining with a surface trough to result in the slight chance of thunderstorms in parts but with no rainfall expected. The trough system should then shift further east into the southeastern corner of the state on Wednesday. A series of troughs will then maintain some instability over the south of the state through the remainder of the week. Daytime temperatures will increase significantly over much of the state late in the week and the hot conditions will combine with gusty winds to result in enhanced fire dangers, particularly over the southern interior.
