Herbert and the Lower Burdekin Forecast

Weather Situation: A high pressure system will remain slow-moving over the Tasman Sea, maintaining the ridge along the Queensland east coast. A weak short wave upper trough over the central Queensland is expected to remain slow moving over the next few days. These features will lead to instability and potential for showers, thunderstorms and some patchy rain areas over the central inland. A surface trough will increase showers about the central coast during today with some isolated heavy falls possible. From Saturday a cool, dry airmass moves into the south of the state with showers contracting to the north and east coast over the weekend and into next week.

Forecast for Friday 26 April Partly cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers, most likely in the late morning and afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm in the south from the late morning. Light winds. Overnight temperatures falling to between 18 and 22 with daytime temperatures reaching around 30.
