Herbert and the Lower Burdekin Forecast
Issued at 5:00 am EST on Wednesday 25 April 2018 for the period until midnight EST Saturday 28 April 2018.

Weather Situation: A dry air mass extends over much of the interior of the state and will remain in place in the coming days. An upper level trough will weaken while shifting southeast out of Queensland and into the Tasman Sea today. An associated surface trough well offshore of the far southern Queensland coast will also weaken today. Yet another upper level trough will generate some instability and the chance of isolated storms over the southeast of the state and far southern interior on Thursday, with the unstable conditions contracting more into the southeast with the upper trough on Friday. Fine conditions will persist over much of the tropics through to the weekend. A large high pressure system will shift east towards southeastern Australia late in the week, gradually extending a firm ridge onto the southern Queensland coast during Friday and about the remaining east coast over the weekend. Winds will tend more onshore over the east coast over the weekend, with showers gradually developing.
